Kneel
body relief print on paper, ink, buttons, thread 5 x 6 closed, 30 x 6 open © 2003 - $95
The book kneel came about when I was working on body prints where I was printing my own skin onto paper. I enjoyed the intimate action of touching the paper with my skin, as well as the idea of the viewer handling the finish product that touched my skin, creating an intimate-by-proxy viewing experience. Kneel discusses ideas of faith with regards to our individual identities. The piece is part of a series of accordion books with autobiographical text that delve into the body and movements of the body, which in turn can reveal something about our unique lives and who we are in the world.
